The Pewsey Community Area is very rural, surrounded by a number of market towns outside the area. Typically, using public transport in an area like this has been challenging to say the least. However, Wiltshire Council has introduced an on-demand service - Wiltshire Connect - to enable people to travel when they need to from any point to any point, connecting the area (through scheduled and on-demand services) to railway stations and market towns.
Linking Pewsey with Devizes, Marlborough, Hungerford and Tidworth, Wiltshire Connect is a combination of scheduled services and a demand responsive service.
The first stage for the Vale of Pewsey was launched on 31st July 2023 followed by the roll out to Marlborough on 4th September. 31st October saw the third stage of the roll out to include Hungerford. The service was further extended in October 2024, due to popular demand, to cover the Collingbournes, Tidworth and Avebury.
This service links villages in all these areas with the villages, towns and rail stations (Pewsey, Bedwyn and Hungerford) or indeed wherever it is you want to travel to or from. There are dozens of pick up/drop off points for you to choose from.
You can book a bus by calling 01225 712900 or by using the app (search for Wiltshire Connect to download the app). The buses are fully accessible and air-conditioned.
PCAP worked with Wiltshire Council on the launch and publicity of the service.
